Video is the best performing digital content type, used for marketing it ends up driving more views, more engagement and more response than other social posting options.  That’s it.

If you want to create a bigger impact, if you want your message to reach a wider audience, if you want people to connect with you even before they get to know you, video is a great tool.

As a photographer, I am super comfortable behind the camera, but I wanted to share these five strategies that have helped me move forward to be in front of the camera:

I realized that I am my own worst critic and that even if others do criticize me they are not paying my bills, so… I shouldn’t care.  Those who care are probably in my tribe.

I book a day or several hours per week in my calendar to record videos, that way I know that day I will “fix myself up” to be on camera that day.

I write an outline or a short script of what I want to say. I don’t want to read it and sound like a robot, but I practice it a few times and make as many takes as necessary, until it is how I want it to sound, natural and authentic… with time, there are less takes

I started with the sort of video that felt less intimidating, in my case Instagram stories, for you it might be something else. Figure out what is easiest.

Get out of your head that you need amazing equipment.  Get started.  I do have all the good equipment, but I had to set it all up and it was complicated, so I kept using it as an excuse not to do it.  I caught myself and so I started doing it with my phone.  I took away my own objections.  Now, I use my good equipment too.  Find out what excuses you are using and get them out of the way.

So, there you have it, hope the tricks help and these statistics make you realize the power of video.
