73. Personal Branding Predictions 2023
I have been following Personal Branding for a few years now, and I can see some trends developing for business leaders like executives, business owners and other self-employed professionals like doctors, lawyers, accountants, real estate agents and so on.
I have put together a few of these, what I call predictions on how I believe the Personal Branding will develop for leaders and professionals.
1. Attention span continues to shrink:
It is a problem, people’s attention span continues to get shorter. You have approximately 0,05 second for someone to make an impression of your website and about 3 seconds to decide whether they stay or go, whether they read your post or scroll past it, and guess what, VISUALS together with STRONG HEADLINES will continue to gain in importance to get the right attention.
Conclusion:
Leaders need to ensure that their communication and online presence is supported by A CLEAR CONCISE MESSAGE and STRONG VISUALS.
2. Short video form will grow:
The question is what kind of short video will be relevant for business leaders. I believe that amongst business people, the short video becomes less “entertaining” and engaging, absolutely, but with more substance. It is ideal, because as humans, we learn better in small bits.
Conclusion:
Engaging videos where you share your knowledge and experience in a storytelling format, in my opinion, will continue to grown.
3.Authenticity strives to find a balance:
The term of authenticity is quite frankly a bit overused. However, whether we like it or not, being truly yourself brings more personality into your brand, makes you more approachable and transparent. I believe that authenticity is not the same as oversharing, there is a time and a place to share. Executive leaders need to make strides to become more comfortable with being vulnerable, which doesn’t mean they need to share everything like many influencers do, but rather find their own balance. But learn to make your brand more personal.
Conclusion:
Leaders will strive to bring more personality into their public presence, for approachability and transparency.
4.Awareness on Personal Brand Management becomes wider:
More executives and small business owners will continue to realize that they need to manage their brand, the opportunity they have to stand out from the rest is through using their uniqueness through connecting with their target audience.
Conclusion:
More leaders become aware of the need to manage and/or create their own Personal Brand, even those who work for corporations as executives.
5.Challenge to communicate a team vision:
As hybrid work becomes a norm for so many, leaders are challenged with the task of sharing their values and principles, which is part of the essence of their Personal Brand. They have the challenge of communicating their vision to the team and to their organizations.
Conclusion:
I believe that more leaders will realize that having their own presence online will help them broaden their reach and position themselves as a Leader to a wider audience and with their own hybrid teams.
6.Leaders become content creators:
More leaders will realize that in order to become thought leaders, with a voice and impact, they need to focus more on positioning themselves and their Personal Brand by creating their own content.
Conclusion:
Leaders and executives must become content creator to proactively share their vision, values and insight.
7.Employers struggle for qualified employees:
The struggle to find qualified employees is real for most corporations now a day. Putting yourself as a leader out there to create interest and recruit suitable applicants will become more of a norm. People want to know who they are going to be working with, their values, their vision and what kind of opportunities are offered. A simple posting is not enough to stand out and make a true difference.
Conclusion:
Leaders will realize how important their Personal Brand is to gain exposure for their companies as attractive employers.
8.Personal contact becomes more relevant:
As people continue to work in hybrid teams, the become to value in-person activities even more. Also, things like email and phone calls which promote a “conversation” gain in relevance to get things done again. Not everyone wants to communicate with a Chatbot.
Conclusion:
Use calls, emails and in-person meetings not across the board but with a purpose, become more effective in accomplishing certain objectives.
