2. Why you need a Business & Marketing Plan
A Business Plan and the Marketing Plan which is part of it are roadmaps that help us accomplish our goals and make us accountable for what we say that we want to do with our business.
It is hard being an Entrepreneur, or even more, a Solopreneur. There is no one to hold you accountable for achieving your own goals, for monetizing your business, or for making it grow. There is no one but ourselves.
I have written a Business Plan ever since I started my business in 2011 here in Germany.
Why? You might ask. I have always believed that putting pen to paper and really THINKING about what I want to accomplish and writing it down, helps me to develop some clarity.
I do this once a year. Throughout the year, I will follow the steps I planned and it usually helps me make decisions when new opportunities arise. Is this new opportunity aligned with what I want to accomplish? Does it fit with my core values?
I try to keep the process simple, after all, it is mostly for myself. The first time I did it, it took me a bit longer, but since then revising it now takes me about 2-3 hours a year.
